Rock Detectives

Posted by on May 20, 2019

Last Thursday Ash class became rock detectives. To try to find out more about the three types of rocks (sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous), they carried out tests to find out about their properties. The density test was dropping the rocks into water to see if they floated if they were low density or sunk which meant they were high density. The permeability test was putting a small amount of water onto the rock to see if it went through. The final test was durability, testing the rock by rubbing sandpaper against the rock to see if it fell apart or not.
